2026-03-01 - Plan Visibility, Feature Access Alignment & New DevSpace Device Plans
Effective Date: April 1, 2026
signageOS is introducing clearer visibility into your current subscription plan, enabled features, and usage — making it easier to understand exactly which capabilities are included in your package and how they are being utilized across your deployment.
What is Changing
Plan Visibility & Feature Access
With this release, signageOS is aligning feature availability with individual subscription plans. Some newer functionalities were previously made broadly available during rollout. Going forward, access to certain features will be limited to customers whose current plan includes them.
What this means for you:
- You will gain clear insight into which features are included in your plan
- Any features outside your subscription scope will no longer be accessible after April 1, 2026
- You have time to act before access to any restricted features is removed
Once the update is released, you will be able to review:
- ✓ Your active plan
- ✓ Enabled features
- ✓ Usage details
If you are currently using functionality that is not included in your plan, you will notice changes after the update goes live on April 1, 2026. Review your setup and reach out to us before the effective date if you need to discuss plan options.
Affected Features
The following features are being aligned with specific plan tiers or add-on packages:
| Feature | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Scripts | Pro plan addon |
| Plugins | Pro plan addon |
| Runners | Pro plan addon |
| Content Guard | Pro plan or higher |
| AI Content Guard | Paid add-on |
| Remote Desktop | Paid add-on |
If you would like to continue using a specific feature that becomes restricted, our team will be happy to discuss plan options that best support your needs. Please reach out to our support team.
Availability of features like Scripts, Plugin, Runners and Content Guard may differ if your company runs on custom or legacy plan.
Default Plans After Signup
New signageOS companies receive the following defaults upon registration:
| Item | Default |
|---|---|
| DevSpace | Enabled |
| DevSpace User Seats | Included per plan |
| Build Targets | Broad selection of platforms |
| Default Device Plan (Trial) | Pro (without Remote Desktop) |
During the trial period, your default device plan is Pro, giving you access to the full set of Pro features — including Scripts, Plugins, and Runners — so you can evaluate the platform without limitations. Remote Desktop is not included in the trial default but can be enabled upon request by contacting signageOS support or sales.
DevSpace Customers: New Lab Feature & Device Plans
Customers using DevSpace will soon receive a refreshed UI and UX with a dedicated Lab feature and two new DevSpace-specific device plans.
Lab
Lab is a new dedicated space within the DevSpace section of Box designed specifically for developers working on Applet development. Lab provides a streamlined, developer-friendly interface for managing devices used during development and testing:
- Card-based device view — see all your development devices at a glance with live screenshots, status, and active applet information
- Quick actions — perform power actions (reboot, restart, applet refresh/reload, filesystem wipeout) directly from the device card
- Applet management — assign, activate, and configure applets on devices through simple drawer-based workflows
- Bulk actions — select multiple devices to perform power actions or applet assignments at once
- Troubleshooting — access debug and troubleshooting tools directly from each device card
- Device provisioning — add new devices using verification codes or generate emulators right from Lab
Lab only displays devices from test Organizations, keeping your development environment cleanly separated from production.
New DevSpace Device Plans
Two new device plans are introduced for DevSpace customers:
| Plan | Purpose | Device Management |
|---|---|---|
| DevSpace Device Plan Lab | For devices used during development and testing; used in Test organization | Full device management capabilities for smooth development workflows |
| DevSpace Device Plan Prod | For deployed production devices | No device management capability — optimized for stable, deployed devices |
DevSpace Device Plan Prod is also the replacement and successor for the legacy Open plan. If you are currently on the Open plan, your devices will transition to DevSpace Device Plan Prod.
For companies with DevSpace only (without CloudControl)
A new Production section will be available in the DevSpace menu, giving you a read-only overview of all devices deployed in non-test Organizations. From this section you can also create and manage Organizations — all new Organizations will automatically use the DevSpace Device Plan Prod.
For companies with both DevSpace and CloudControl
You can mark any Organization as DevSpace Lab to make its devices accessible in the Lab view. The Production tab will link devices back to their full CloudControl device detail pages, giving you the best of both worlds.
